WHAT: MUSIC & DANCE

Dance to the rhythm of this flash mob commemorating Peru’s Bicentennial at the National Mall. Performed by more than 60 people, it brings you close to popular Peruvian rhythms, such as Peruvian Cajón (box drum), Festejo, Valicha, Marinera, and Vals.

We thank Ms. Lucy de Mantilla, composer of the song "Marinera del Bicentenario". Likewise, we thank Mr. Rodrigo Rios and Mr. Giancarlo Robalino, directors of the group "Inspiración Criolla", for their valuable support in part of the music of this event.

Pilar de la Hoz, considered the First Lady of Peruvian jazz, gave us a delicious mix of national flavor performing Peruvian and American music, such as “Para Cantar”, “Tus Manos son de Viento”, and “S Wonderful”.

Through this musical show, Sylvia Falcón, with Pepe Céspedes on the piano, performs Peruvian traditional music compositions “Vírgenes del Sol” and “Valicha”. Sylvia shows us her extraordinary display of high, medium, and low voices, in a unique musical genre born in Peru: Andean lyric.

Directed by renowned Peruvian conductor Miguel Harth-Bedoya, this musical orchestral project does something that could seem impossible. Thanks to our modern communication tools, he brings together more than 60 Peruvian musicians from around the world, to interpret emblematic musical pieces of national folklore such as "El Cóndor Pasa", "La Flor de la Canela", "El Alcatraz", as well as Marinera and Tondero.
