Inauguration of the “Kaypi Peru-2021” Festival in Washington D.C.

Today, the Ambassador of Peru to the United States, Hugo de Zela, inaugurated the cultural festival "Kaypi Peru-2021”. Taking place in the United States since 2010, it aims to spread the cultural richness of Peru and promote tourism. This year, it will allow the North American public to be a participant in the commemoration of our bicentennial of national independence.

 Kaypi Peru, which in Quechua means "This is Peru", will present free concerts by renowned artists, handicraft and gastronomy workshops, art exhibitions, Quechua classes, as well as Peruvian history.

 The public will be able to enjoy a concert by more than 60 Peruvian musicians residing in different parts of the world, all of them directed by the conductor Miguel Harth-Bedoya.  You will be able to appreciate an unprecedented interpretation of Andean lyric in the voice of the singer Sylvia Falcón, as well as Peruvian jazz by singer Pilar de la Hoz.

Commemoration of Peruvian Bicentennial Independence in Washington D.C.

The Ambassador of Peru in the US, Hugo de Zela, presided over today, in Washington DC, the commemoration of Peruvian Bicentennial Independence with the participation of high representatives of US government, as well as of diplomatic corps accredited in this city.

In his remarks, the Ambassador of Peru highlighted the values that sustain Peru’s republican history, such as freedom, democracy, respect for the rule of law, and defense of human rights, principles that our country shares with the United States.

He also reiterated, on behalf of the government of Peru, his gratitude for US cooperation in the fight against the pandemic, through the donation of more than two million vaccines, cold chain equipment, and mechanical ventilators, as well as in the repatriation of 11,300 Peruvian citizens in 70 humanitarian flights.

The Ambassador of Peru also inaugurated “Kaypi Peru-2021”, the largest Peruvian cultural festival in the United States since 2010, which has the aim to spread the cultural richness of Peru in this country, as well as to promote tourism.
